Why should we, as educators, integrate technology into the curriculum?
Technology is a tool we all need. If technology is integrated into the classroom, not only will it display information in a new way, but it will also provide students with the 21st century skills they will need to be successful in the real world.
Students need to be able to access the internet to acquire information. This will also help students to become more independent.
Students need to be able to use word, excel, powerpoint etc....
In the real world students will need to be able to use these programs in order to be successful in the work world. If technology is integrated into the curriculum than it will be easier to ensure that students have these skills.
Technology does not only enable students to be 21st century ready but, also can reach different types of learners. It can reach the visual learners by displaying a youtube video on the projection screen. It can reach the hands-on learners with the help of a smart or promethean board. It can reach all different types of learners.
If technology is integrated into the curriculum in all aspects than it will be easier to ensure that all learners are reached, and that students are ready for the 21st century!
